The first step to beautiful facial skin is knowing your skin type. The Fitzpatrick skin phototype is a system commonly used to describe a person’s skin type in terms of its response to ultraviolet radiation (UVR).
Types of skin types:
They burn in the sun but never tan. Characteristics: White skin, blue eyes, blond or red hair, freckles
They usually burn in the sun but have difficulty tanning. Characteristics: fair skin, blue, green, or hazel eyes, blond or red hair, freckles.
They sometimes burn and tan evenly when exposed to sunlight. Characteristics: Creamy skin, blue or brown eyes, dark blond or light brown hair.
They rarely burn when exposed to sunlight and tan quickly. Characteristics: Dark cream skin, blue or brown eyes, dark blonde or light brown hair.
They rarely burn when exposed to sunlight and tan and shine quickly. Characteristics: Dark brown skin.
They never burn when exposed to sunlight and quickly tan darkly. Characteristics: Black skin
